How does a new Picture-In-picture (PIP) mode of WhatsApp work?

On Sunday, Facebook's proprietary messaging platform launched the photo-in-picture mode for all Android users with the latest version of the app. This feature is available for all iOS devices since the beginning of last year and has finally reached Android. Whatsapp initially introduced the feature on the Android Beta version of the platform in October. The new feature will allow users to view video content from third party apps within WhatsApp. This means that users do not need to move outside the chat window to watch videos from now on.

How will PP mode work?

This feature has been started with the latest WhatsAppSpeed version 2.18.380. Previously, users were redirected to external links to watch the video through the platform. But, with PIP mode, the video will be played only at the top of the chat window. They will have the option of converting them to full-screen view.

The new update will be applicable to links to major video platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Tumbler, and Instagram. Users will also be able to operate the video timeline bar below to scroll to different segments. Initially, Whatsapp has provided support from some of the major social media platforms, but it is likely to expand in other platforms as well.

How to get PP mode?

To get photo-in-picture mode, users need to download the latest version of WhatsApp from Google Play Store. They can also update the forum from within the app. The new mode is available for both individual and group chats in all Android devices.

It has been a busy year for What'sapp, where he has introduced several new features including 'Forward Label' to stop counterfeit news and whatsapp stickers. To make it easier to watch at night, considering a dark mode like YouTube.
